“The best and perhaps only way to sustain our civilization is to defeat Putin as soon as possible,” the billionaire said at a World Economic Forum in Davos. The billionaire and businessman George Soros said Tuesday that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine could be the start of World War III. The way the West can maintain a free civilization is the defeat of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s forces. “The invasion could be the beginning of World War III and our civilization may not survive,” Soros told a World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. “The best and perhaps only way to sustain our civilization is to defeat Putin as soon as possible,” he said. “The ceasefire was a mistake and is being prepared for negotiations and peace.” A ceasefire is unattainable because it cannot be trusted, he said. “The weaker Putin becomes, the more unpredictable he is,” he added. He also said the EU must understand that Putin could halt supplies of Russian natural gas, which currently covers about 40 percent of Europe’s needs. This philanthropist became famous in 1992 when he forced the British Central Bank (Bank of England) to devalue the pound and to withdraw from the European exchange mechanism by selling stock of the British pound.
