Interpol activates red alert against “Iván Márquez” at the request of the Colombian government

(CNN Spanish) – The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) activated three red circulars against Luciano Marín Arango “Iván Márquez”, one of the leaders of the FARC dissidence, Colombian Police Director Jorge Luis Vargas Valencia reported on Wednesday.

The National Police indicates that Colombia’s request for reactivate the search for Márquez It is due to “serious crimes committed between 2001 and 2002”.

“We have formally asked Interpol’s central office in Venezuela to locate and capture alias Iván Márquez who is in Venezuela to be extradited to Colombia and answer for these crimes,” said Vargas Valencia.

This same year, President Iván Duque assured, without presenting evidence, that the former guerrilla was on Venezuelan soil, for which he asked the United States to declare Venezuela a terrorism promoter. However, the US has not included Venezuela on this list, which includes Cuba, Iran, Syria and North Korea.

CNN asked the questioned government of Nicolás Maduro on Wednesday for a reaction to the allegations about the possible location of the guerrilla leader, but we have not yet received a response.
