On August 4, 2020, a double explosion at the port of Beirut rocked the Lebanese capital, leaving at least 214 dead and more than 6,500 injured. Filmed by the inhabitants in a state of shock, impressive images of the explosion, then of the destruction of whole districts moved the planet. One year after this tragedy, here is the selection of ten striking videos, proposed by the editorial staff of France 24 Observers.

A deafening detonation, followed a few seconds later by a huge burning and devastating breath: this is what these amateur images, taken at the very moment of the explosion that occurred at the port of Beirut a year ago, relate. August 4, 2020. To this day, the Lebanese are still suffering the repercussions of this particularly painful tragedy for Lebanon.
