The European Union (EU) will provide Ukraine with an additional € 500 million to support the army during the Russian invasion. This was stated by the head of European diplomacy Josep Borrell at the meeting of foreign ministers of the G7 organization in Germany, adding that the money is intended for the purchase of heavy weapons. The total EU financial support for Ukraine has thus increased to two billion euros, he added. Russian oil embargo Borrell also expressed hope that diplomats from EU member states, who will negotiate on Monday, will soon agree on an embargo on Russian oil, despite the fact that some countries are against it. Isolation of Moscow In addition to Borrel, representatives of Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Italy, Japan and the United States are present at the G7 diplomats’ meeting in Weissenhaus. According to Borrell, they plan to look for other ways to increase pressure on Russia through economic sanctions, isolate Moscow internationally and face the misinformation spread by Russia. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and Moldova’s head of diplomacy Nicu Popescu were also invited to the meeting.
