On February 16, Bridegan brought his nine-year-old twins from their first marriage to Shanna Fernandez’s ex-wife. Then he went home with his two-year-old daughter Bexley. While driving, he noticed a tire in the middle of the road and had to remove it. It was an obvious trap to lure a man out of the car, police told the British Daily Mail. He was shot when he got out of the car around 7:30 p.m. He died on the spot, while Bexley was still strapped in the child seat and had to watch it all. After the escape, the killer sat terrified in the car and screamed for about three minutes until a passer-by noticed and called the police. Bridegan’s wife Kirsten was at home with their other child at the time of the crime. According to the Jacksonville Beach Police Department, there are no suspects in this case. But at least the first clue was found; police released a photograph of a dark blue Ford truck and asked the public for help in finding it. “This community is strong, we are strong and God is the strongest of all and will not stand aside,” the widow said at a meeting of supporters in Jacksonville Beach. Bridegan’s ex-wife and their twins were missing from the meeting. They did not even attend the funeral, although they were invited. The police are currently doing everything they can to resolve the case. The reward for the information leading to the clarification of the crime has increased several times in recent weeks, most recently to a staggering $ 55,000 (about € 52,000).
