Coronavirus in France: the results of this Thursday, May 5 – CNEWS

The number of contaminations and people hospitalized due to Covid-19 continued to drop on Thursday, a sign of the continued decline of the epidemic, according to figures published by Public Health France. CONTAMINATIONS The daily average of new contaminations over seven days, which smoothes the variations, stood at 43,865 on Thursday, down from the previous day (46,080) and seven days earlier (80,980). This decline is part of a general downward trend since a peak reached in early April around 140,000 cases. HOSPITALIZATIONS Hospitals had 21,880 patients with Covid-19 on Thursday, compared to 22,319 the day before and 24,130 a week ago. Of these 21,880 patients, 1,447 were in critical care (which receives the most serious cases), against 1,465 the day before and 1,629 last Thursday. DEATHS 123 people have died in hospital from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, for a total of 146,498 deaths since the start of the pandemic. VACCINATION On the vaccination side, 54.3 million people have received at least one dose (80.6% of the total population) and 53.4 have a complete vaccination schedule (79.3%), according to figures from the Ministry of Health.
