“A historic agreement” between LFI and EELV for Manuel Bompard No doubt for Manuel Bompard, the negotiator of La France insoumise with the other left-wing parties in view of the legislative elections, “we can speak of a historic agreement” about the last night’s agreement between environmentalists and the “rebellious”. “There had never been an agreement in history between Europe Ecologie-Les Verts and La France insoumise at the national level for the legislative elections”, begins by replying the former campaign director of Jean-Luc Mélenchon to the presidential election at the microphone of France Inter. “It triggers, I hope, the beginning of a dynamic which has an objective, it is to make sure to approach the legislative elections which are coming with a majority perspective. The objective is to ensure that we can win the legislative elections, ”continues Mr. Bompard, also referring to the discussions that continue with the Communists and the Socialists. Questioned by the journalist Léa Salamé on the vehement political disagreements and confrontations between “rebellious” and environmentalists during the presidential campaign, Mr. Bompard replied that “obviously, there were difficult moments during the presidential campaign. No one has forgotten them”, he says before continuing: “but our responsibility, I believe, is to be able to move on, to open a new stage together and not to remain in the grudges from the past. Otherwise, we are not moving forward”. For Manuel Bompard, there was no compromise between LFI and EELV, but discussions which made it possible to clarify “misunderstandings”: “There are subjects where we lend to the other, to the partner that we have in front of us a way of seeing things which is not necessarily the reality”. “On the points which were the hard points of the discussion, in particular our relationship to the European question. Personally, I don’t have the impression of having made a compromise, or that Europe Ecologie-Les Verts has made a compromise. I think we have clarified our position, ”defends the close friend of Mr. Mélenchon. Questioned by Léa Salamé on political disagreements on the left on NATO or Europe, Mr. Bompard believes that “there are subjects on which we will continue to discuss. In an agreement, we are not obliged to agree on 100% of the points either. There are subjects on which we have slightly different approaches, but this is not decisive”.
