State television editor Russia Today and pro-Kremlin media manager Margarita Simonyan said on Wednesday night that Putin’s idea of pressing the red button was “more likely” than that Russia would lose the war, according to the Daily Mail. “Either we lose in Ukraine or the third world war begins. But I think the second case is more realistic, even though we know what Putin is like,” she said. “On the one hand, it scares me,” she told a group of experts who sat restlessly in their chairs, “but on the other hand, it’s a real possibility. We’ll go to heaven while they just yell. We’ll all die once,” she added. Simonyan’s ideas about the nuclear holocaust are so far the last threat from the highest ranks of Russian government circles. In the last few days, threats have come from propagandist Vladimir Solovyov, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and President Putin himself. The idea comes after Russia successfully tested its latest Sarmat 2 nuclear missile last week. Putin has already announced that the missile can hit targets anywhere on earth and cannot be stopped by any current missile defense.
