The chief of staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Valery Gerasimov, was wounded in Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian news agency Unian, referring to military journalist Olexand Shulman. According to him, the sixty-six-year-old general, who is now trying to evacuate from the vicinity of Ukrainian Izjum, hit shrapnel in the right leg. It is not in danger of life. Moscow did not comment on the information. According to reports taken over by the Ukrainian media, Gerasimov and other soldiers were in command when the place was hit by Ukrainian fire. It allegedly killed 20 people. According to data that cannot be independently verified, Gerasimov has already removed the shrapnel from his leg. He did not suffer a fracture. Ukrainian media reported at the end of April that Gerasimov had personally come to Izjum, Ukraine, to take command of Russian troops in Donbas. Kiev claims that since the beginning of the Russian aggression, it has killed more than ten high-ranking Russian commanders, including at least six generals.
