Forensic experts examining the bodies of victims of mass graves found north of Kiev report finding evidence that some of the women in those graves were raped before Russian forces killed them. TASR retrieved the report on Monday from The Guardian’s website. “We have recorded several cases that confirm that these women were raped before the shooting,” said Ukrainian forensic doctor Vladyslav Pirovsky, a group of doctors who have performed dozens of autopsies on residents of Buce, Irpin and Borodanka. These people lost their lives during the Russian occupation of the region. Doctors from the Pirov team inspect about 15 bodies a day, many of whom are mutilated, writes The Guardian. “There are many burned and severely mutilated bodies among them, which makes it impossible to identify them,” Pirovsky said. He added that faces are often fragmented and some bodies lack a head. According to him, the bodies of some women prove that the victims were murdered by automatic weapons fire, some of which had up to six bullet holes in their backs. Kiev prosecutor Oleh Tkalenko said his office had received details of the alleged rapes and was investigating the circumstances. See also: Authors: TASR, tn
