OM reach an agreement with UEFA – Foot01

Sanctioned by UEFA after the excesses that occurred during the first leg of the Europa Conference League quarter-final against PAOK Salonika at the beginning of the month, Olympique de Marseille found a parade to avoid a match partly behind closed doors. On May 5, the Marseille club will play one of the most important matches of its season with the reception of Feyenoord in the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League. During this capital meeting which could lead OM to a new European final, four years after the defeat in the Europa League against Atlético de Madrid in Lyon, the Marseillais will count on the support of their supporters. But the latter will not be present in force for this half, since UEFA recently announced the closure of the North Bend of the Vélodrome for this meeting. All this because of the incidents that punctuated the meeting against the Greeks of PAOK Salonika in the quarters. A sanction that OM however managed to thwart, since with the approval of the European body, Marseille will have the right to fill its platform with children. 🚨 The North turn of the Velodrome will ultimately not be closed for the reception of the Feyenoord in #UECL. ⚪️🔵 OM should obtain from UEFA the possibility of bringing children there.(@RMCsport) pic.twitter.com/i0pBNcSzHd — Actu Foot (@ActuFoot_) April 21, 2022 6,500 young people to fill a platform behind closed doors Indeed, according to information from RMC, OM will have the possibility of bringing in 6,500 young people, with priority for players licensed in partner clubs, and in particular those adhering to the “Next Generation” program of the OM Foundation. Ukrainian children, currently living near Marseille on a Corsica Linea ship, will also be invited to the party. These invitations are not new since Marseille had already made this nice gesture at the start of the season during the C3 match against Lazio Rome. Thanks to this agreement, the North Bend of the Vélodrome will therefore not be closed for OM-Feyenoord. Enough to make this half a little more festive in a stadium that will be boiling hot anyway in order to push Jorge Sampaoli’s men towards the European grail.
