Ligue 1 – Lens is well in the race for the podium after its victory against Montpellier (2-0) – Eurosport FR

Nothing seems to be able to stop the Lensoise dynamic at the end of the season. After two victories in a row against Nice (3-0) and Lille (2-1), two direct competitors in the race for Europe, the Artésiens chained (2-0) and made the pass of three against Montpellier without Téji Savanier or Jordan Ferri at kick-off. Freewheeling opposition from Hérault which, already almost assured of its maintenance, failed to reverse the current trend with a fifth game without a win. On an acceleration and an individual feat by David Pereira Da Costa (37th) in the area , the Lensois collective made the difference in the first period, before seeing Ignatius Ganago (75th) strike the head. A perfect shot for the Sang et Or five days before the end of the championship and in a dominated match without any real difficulty. The Lensois return to three points from the podium and retain all their chances of snagging a European ticket which has been avoiding them since the 2007-2008 season. /04/2022 At 10:33 PM Lens or the advent of quiet strength After its fantastic comeback and an almost flawless promoted season, the Lensoise madness had gradually died out last year in the home stretch of the championship. Europe had passed just under the nose of the Sang et Or because of a slow final, marked by a single point taken from the last five meetings. A year later and carried by a public more present than ever, Lens continues its metamorphosis and continues to gain experience while continuing to amaze. Despite a tasteless first half hour, the Lensoise attack took its time to find its marks and rediscover its sequences which are its strength. The multiple climbs of Jonathan Clauss and Darwin Machado wore out and capsized a more than tottering Hérault defense. A first clear chance with a goal disallowed by captain Seko Fofana (34th) for offside served as a warning. The second with a knockdown from Fofana for Clauss, followed by a discount for a lightning sequence and a clinical finish by David Pereira Da Costa (37th) in the area, played the role of logical sanction. Savanier made them tremble , Ganago delivered them Forced to renew themselves in order to hope to reverse the trend, the Montpellier residents recovered their intensity afterwards. The entry of the master to play Savanier helped them a lot. Immediately after coming into play, the ex-Nîmois fired a first strike (65th), before passing a few centimeters from a center shot as sumptuous as it was unexpected (71st). But to counter this momentary rebellion, the coaching of Franck Haise did the rest. A new proof of maturity and wealth of the Lensois bench with the successive entries of Przemyslaw Frankowski and Ignatius Ganago. The first then found the second with a powerful and brushed center for an uncrossed header (75th). An immediate blow to definitively bury the Héraultais who have struggled in attack in recent weeks. A capital success which allows Lens, still seventh in the standings, to come back to three points from Rennes (3rd, 56 pts) and a place in the Champions League, like Monaco (5th, 56 pts) and a ticket to the Europa League Conference.
