Grendel explained that he had lost his mandate by being convicted of the intentional crime of Kotleba in accordance with the Constitution of the Slovak Republic. “Until the moment of the promise of his deputy, the ĽSNS parliamentary group does not have the number of deputies required by law for the continued existence of the deputy club. It follows from the decision published on the parliament’s website that they delivered a notice to the National Council of the Slovak Republic on Tuesday on the validity of the judgment of the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic for an intentional criminal offense of 5 April in the criminal case of Marian Kotleb. The decision states that according to the constitution the mandate of the deputy expires on the day of entry into force of the judgment by which the deputy was convicted of an intentional crime, “and thus the mandate of the Member of the National Council of the Slovak Republic Marian Kotleb expires on April 5, 2022”. Slavěna Vorobelová is to be a substitute for Kotleb. According to the Rules of Procedure of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, the Club of Deputies must have at least eight members. On April 5, the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic sentenced Kotleba in a case of handing out checks in the amount of 1,488 euros to a suspended six-month prison sentence with a one-and-a-half probation period. He is guilty of an offense of sympathy for a movement aimed at suppressing fundamental rights and freedoms.
