Mysterious jetpack man may have been seen again in the skies near Los Angeles airport

(CNN) – Air traffic controllers warned pilots to be vigilant after a “man with a jetpack,” a jetpack, was seen near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

“Be careful, the jet man is back,” an air traffic controller said in an audio feed obtained by CNN. “Let me know if you see it.”

A spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said a Boeing 747 pilot “reported seeing an object that could have resembled a jetpack” around 6:30 pm Wednesday. It was about 15 miles east of the airport and was flying at an altitude of approximately 1,500 meters.

Air traffic controllers alerted pilots in the area as a precaution, the spokesman said.

“SkyWest 3626, did you see the UFO?” The air traffic controller asked in a transmission.

“We were looking, but we didn’t see Iron Man,” replied a pilot.

Several aircraft received the warnings as they approached LAX, but flight crews said they did not see anyone with a jetpack.

This is not the first sighting of the “Jetpack Man” near LAX.

In October, a China Airlines crew spotted a person in a jetpack flying at about 1,800 meters.

Two commercial airline jets reported seeing a person with a jetpack last August, including an American Airlines crew who said the person flew within 100 feet of them.

The FBI and FAA are investigating the incidents.
