Records at the Olympic Games

Weightlifting

to) Zhihui Hou, from China, set three Olympic records for her weightlifting participation, in the women’s 49 kilogram event.

Swimming

Kiesenhofer, who was a triathlete until 2014 when she had to leave the sport due to an injury, had modest achievements in cycling and was not among the favorites. In fact, she was best known for her academic profile: she has a master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge (England) and a doctorate in Applied Mathematics from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Barcelona (Spain)

However, she was separated from all the riders 38.5 km from the end of the women’s road cycling event. And, from there, no one caught up with her and she beat the Dutch Annemiek van Vleuten by 1 minute 15 seconds, who took the silver.
