The man who was accused of trying on Tuesday to assassinate the transitional president in Mali, Colonel Assimi Goïta, with a knife on Tuesday, and who had since been in the hands of the Malian security services, is “deceased”, said Sunday July 25 the Malian government.

The man, whose identity has not been disclosed, tried to stab the strongman of Mali on Tuesday during the Muslim prayer of Eid al-Adha at the Great Mosque of Bamako. “Immediately apprehended by the security services”, “his state of health deteriorated”.
