Pegasus, Morocco sues Amnesty and Forbidden Stories

Accused of using Israeli spy software Pegasus, the kingdom of Morocco has decided to sue Amnesty International and Forbidden Stories for defamation before the Paris criminal court. This was announced by the lawyer Olivier Baratelli, in charge of the case. The first trial hearing is scheduled for 8 October in front of the Chamber of Justice, but the trial shouldn’t take place for about two years. Invited to BFMTV, the lawyer explained that this procedure was put in place to “dispel these unfounded rumors”. “It is foolish to think that the kingdom of Morocco could have intercepted or listened to a telephone like that of the French head of state,” said the lawyer. “There is no material evidence”, he continued, to finally point out that “Nso, the Israeli company that appears to be the supplier of this Pegasus software, has never had any contractual or commercial connection with Morocco”.
