(CNN) – Brisbane, Australia, has been officially announced as the venue for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2032.
The Australian city and the surrounding region of southeastern Queensland were approved to host the Games at a session of the International Olympic Committee in Tokyo on Wednesday.
They will be the first Brisbane Games, although Australia has already hosted two: Melbourne 1956 and Sydney 2000.
