Cases of Covid-19 linked to the Delta variant in Spain continue to grow, one of the countries most affected by the increase in infections since the beginning of the summer. According to the latest report by the Spanish Ministry of Health on the epidemiological situation linked to the Covid-19 variants and their impact on public health, in the period examined from 28 June to 4 July, the Delta variant already accounted for 43% of new cases. . The variant is however diffused in a non-homogeneous way according to the territories: in Valencia or in the Balearic Islands it exceeds 80%, while in areas such as La Rioja it is the cause of only 8% of cases. The report also shows a decrease in the prevalence of the Gamma variant, first identified in Brazil, and an increase in the Beta variant, native to South Africa, particularly in the Castilla y León region.
