They decree provisional prison for three of those arrested for the murder of a young gay man in A Coruña

(CNN Spanish) – The head of the Court of Instruction number 1 of A Coruña has decreed this Friday the entry into provisional prison, communicated and without bail, for three of the suspects of having participated in the murder of Samuel Luiz, victim of a brutal group beating that ended with his life at dawn on Saturday July 3 at the A Coruña sea pass.

As reported by the Superior Court of Justice of Galicia, in total there were four people, three men and a woman between 20 and 25 years old, who went to court this Friday morning as alleged perpetrators of this deadly beating. The three men will remain in prison because the judge appreciates the risk of escape and alteration or destruction of evidence, while the woman will be released with the obligation to appear in court when requested.

The four detainees are suspected of having committed a crime of homicide or murder, as stated in the order of the magistrate, and it will be defined which of the two typifications corresponds to apply to the accused as the investigation of the case directed by the Investigating Court evolves number 8 of A Coruña.

At least six arrests

So far, the work led by the National Police of Spain has resulted in the arrest of six people for their alleged direct involvement in the beating that ended the life of Samuel Luiz. The Delegation of the Government of Spain in Galicia reported this Friday of the last two arrests and added that they are two minors, of Spanish nationality and friends of the other four who went to court this Friday. As reported by the delegation, both are suspected of homicide and say that one of them has a prior history.

It is estimated that new arrests could be made in the next few hours, as the National Police continues to work on the testimonies and images collected at the scene.
