The number of coronavirus infections in Germany has increased for the third consecutive day (949 new cases in the last 24 hours) but the government specifies that it is not yet able to interpret this data with certainty, or to say when the infections will increase due to of the delta variant. “The observation time is too short” to be able to make any predictions, explained the government spokesman, Stefen Seibert. “Much also depends on us, and not for a little while,” he added. The incidence of cases per 100 thousand people on a weekly basis has risen to 5.5, compared to 5.1 a few days ago. 41.5 percent of Germans were vaccinated and 57.9 percent received a dose of the vaccine. The government has advised the Germans against going to Spain, which is now considered a risk area.
