Omicron, ok to clinical trials for 2 Chinese vaccine candidates

Two Chinese anti-Covid vaccine candidates, specifically designed to counter the Omicron variant of Sars-CoV-2, have received the green light for the clinical trial in Hong Kong, according to the manufacturers. Both vaccines are inactivated virus-based; one is developed by Sinovac Biotech, the other by China National Biotec Group. The Asian giant is facing the biggest wave of infections since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. Several cities, including the megalopolis Shanghai, have been placed under partial or total lockdown.
