Risk of environmental catastrophe in the Mediterranean. A ship with a load of one thousand tons of diesel was wrecked off the Tunisian coast, near the Gulf of Gabes. The Tunisian sites report it. Environment Minister Leila Chikhaoui left for Gabes to coordinate operations to combat pollution, reports the Mosaique website. The Xelo ship, flying the flag of Equatorial Guinea, had left the Egyptian port of Damietta and was headed for Malta. The shipwreck was caused by bad weather.
