Cannes Film Festival 2022: the films of David Cronenberg, James Gray and Claire Denis among the 18 films in competition

The president of the Cannes Film Festival Pierre Lescure and his general delegate Thierry Frémaux presented the official selection of the 75th Cannes International Film Festival on Thursday. Claire Denis is in the running with Stars at Noon, a thriller set in the business world in South America. Also in the running for the Palme d’Or: David Cronenberg, James Gray, the Dardenne brothers and even Ruben Östlund. David Cronenberg will present Future Crimes with an enticing poster featuring Viggo Mortensen, Léa Seydoux and Kristen Stewart. The Dardenne Brothers return to Cannes with Tori and Lokita. James Gray will deliver with Armageddon Time a chronicle of adolescence, with Anne Hattaway and Anthony Hopkins. Ruben Ostlund, after the highly acclaimed The Square, will climb the stairs with The Triangle of Sadness. “A great general mockery of what we have become”, sums up Thierry Frémaux. the Romanian Cristian Mungiu, present with RMN (Palme d’or in 2007 with 4 months, 3 weeks, 2 days).
