Covid vaccines, Pfizer will seek authorization for third dose


Pfizer-BioNTech has announced its intention to ask the FDA, the American drug authority, for authorization for a third dose of the Covid vaccine to give “even greater protection” to the population. In a statement, the pharmaceutical company explained that there are “encouraging data”, to be made public in the coming weeks, on the supplemental dose of the vaccine, which would increase the level of antibodies five to ten times if given six months after the second dose . “Pfizer-Biontech believes a third dose could be of benefit within 6-12 months following the second dose to maintain higher levels of protection,” the note reads.
