War in Ukraine: in Zhytomyr, life to the rhythm of warning sirens

If the tension decreased in Zhytomyr with the withdrawal of Russian troops from the region, the city – located 150 kilometers west of the capital kyiv – lived for several weeks to the rhythm of sirens and bombardments. Its proximity to the front lines has made it a hub both for the delivery of humanitarian aid and for the reception of displaced persons. Our special envoys were able to measure the incomprehension of the population in the face of the Russian offensive but also its determination to resist.
