The United States will demand the expulsion of Russia from the UN Human Rights Council, said its ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield. She described Russia’s participation in the council as a farce. Russia’s membership can be suspended by a 193-member UN General Assembly by a two-thirds majority. Thomas-Greenfield said that Russia had consistently committed gross and systematic human rights violations during its membership. “Russia’s participation in the Human Rights Council is a farce. “This is wrong, so we believe the time has come for the UN General Assembly to vote on its exclusion.” they condemned the Russian aggression.
