Ukraine-Russia, Moscow: “Strengthening the eastern flank NATO dangerous”

“Dangerous” and “destabilizing”. Thus Russia has branded the new strengthening of the east flank of NATO, decided at the summit of the Atlantic Alliance today in Brussels. “Any argument is good for justifying this dangerous and destabilizing strengthening on the eastern flank” of NATO, said Maria Zacharova, spokesman for the Russian foreign minister, discussing all the arguments of the Kremlin’s rhetoric. “The militarization of Europe is advancing thanks to the efforts of the Alliance,” continued Zacharova, adding that NATO confirms its anti-Russian position. Furthermore, by promising other weapons to Ukraine, “the Alliance confirms its interest in the continuation of hostilities”. According to Zacharova, NATO is being carried away by the United States which aims to contain Russia. Washington, she argues, is promoting anti-Russian hysteria to raise arms costs and take advantage of them financially. The spokesperson has repeated old allegations that NATO is covering up American covert research into biological and chemical weapons while she unfairly accuses Russia of planning nuclear, biological and chemical provocations. Finally, Zacharova described the NATO summit as a “brainwashing” session, adding that the United States does not tolerate Russia being a sovereign country capable of pursuing an independent policy.
