The league could not approve the transaction because the Russian hockey player’s contract contains a “no trade” clause, which it said was not complied with. The Golden Knights sent Dadonov and a conditional pick in the 2nd round of the draft to Anaheim just before the end of the exchanges for the rights to striker Ryan Kesler and defender John Moore. The NHL Players’ Association (NHLPA) immediately began investigating the entire class. The reason was a modified clause on the impossibility of exchange without the player’s consent. For Dadon, Anaheim would be the fourth club in the NHL, playing most of the 403 games for Florida so far. In the 2021/2022 season, he played in the Golden Knights jersey in 62 matches, in which he scored 27 Canadian points (15 + 12).
