Ukrainian refugees: the Mediterranean ferry docked in Marseille made available by Corsica Linea – La Provence

Renaud Muselier, President of the South Region and Pierre-Antoine Villanova, Managing Director of the maritime company Corsica Linea which provides services to Corsica as part of the public service of territorial continuity from the port of Marseille, have co-signed a letter to Emmanuel Macron whose object is a proposal for the reception of families and Ukrainian refugees. In the name of a tradition of welcome and humanitarianism and because Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur “constitutes a point of important entry via the Franco-Italian border”, it is proposed that Corsica Linea make the Mediterranean ferry available, currently berthed in the basins of the large maritime port of Marseille. “It could be the first reception center for Ukrainian refugees in France”, indicates the letter. “1,700 refugees could thus be housed and fed on board the ferry (…). This capacity could be increased to 3,000 refugees from September 2022 with the addition of a second ferry”. Several economic players including the UPE 13 and the TOP 20 Club support this initiative.
