Polish Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminski confirmed on Wednesday that Warsaw had expelled 45 Russian diplomats for espionage. We are smashing the (network) of Russian secret service agents in our country with full consistency and determination,” Kaminski said on the social network Twitter. According to Onet.pl, the Russian ambassador to Warsaw, Sergei Andreyev, said that the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs had given him a list of Russian diplomats who had to leave the country. He specified that the employees were given different deadlines, but had a maximum of five days to leave Poland. Andreyev added that he himself was not labeled a persona non grata and that the Russian embassy in Warsaw would continue to operate. According to the PAP agency, the people suspected of espionage were identified by the Polish Internal Security Agency (ABW). She subsequently called on the Polish Ministry of Diplomacy to expel them from the country. Russia’s foreign ministry said on Wednesday morning that it would take retaliation if its diplomats were expelled from Poland, Reuters reported, referring to Russia’s RIA Novosti.
