Parliament approved the lex Ukraine, which will make it easier for refugees to stay in Slovakia – Denník N

For almost a month, Ukrainians have been defending themselves against Russian war aggression. More than 259,000 refugees from Ukraine have already crossed our borders and 48,000 of them already have the status of temporary refuge. On Tuesday, March 22, the parliament approved a package of nineteen laws, the lex Ukraine, which addresses the problems arising in connection with the refugee wave. 117 deputies out of 133 present voted for the law. What does the lex Ukraine contain: If a Ukrainian changes the temporary address of his residence on the resident’s document, he will have to report it directly to the municipality. Owners of flats and houses that accommodate refugees can receive an accommodation allowance of 7 euros per day and half a child, a maximum of 1250 euros per month. After the new one, refugees will be able to register at employment offices. A Ukrainian to whom the Aliens Police issues a detainee’s document can receive a benefit in material need – EUR 68.80 per person per month, EUR 130.90 per adult and EUR 130.90 per child. Temporary refuge A certificate of temporary refuge is the easiest way for Ukrainians to protect themselves from the war. It does not require lengthy official procedures and is a ticket for help to refugees in all areas. In order to get it from us, they must first register. However, registration does not mean that this is proof of temporary refuge for them. Refugees can also register via the online form, which will speed up its processing. After completing the form, the refugee must personally visit the Aliens Police at any department of the Police Force, where he or she will obtain proof of temporary refuge. It can also be obtained in large-capacity centers set up by the state in the city’s sports halls in Humenné, Michalovce and Nitra. The opening of the center in Bratislava and Banská Bystrica is being prepared. With this confirmation, the Ukrainian person proves himself, for example, when looking for a job or visiting a doctor, or when placing a child in school. Lex Ukraine is also extending the validity of temporary, permanent and tolerated stays, which would otherwise end during an emergency. At the same time, the state will be able to waive some deadlines and at the same time the deadlines binding on the police department for residence proceedings will not apply. The issuance of documents for foreigners from third countries who come from Ukraine should also be accelerated. The Ukrainian also has the temporary address of his / her residence stated on the ID card. It will have to report its possible change directly to the municipality, which will enter it in the register of foreigners of the Police Force, to which the municipality will have access. If they do not have such access to the municipality’s system, they will indicate the change of the resident’s address in the document of tolerated residence. After entering Slovakia, the Ukrainian will be able to request a voluntary return to Ukraine, while the police may issue him a foreign passport. Accommodation allowance Parliament has agreed that those who have come to Ukrainians who ask for temporary refuge in our country are entitled to a financial allowance. It can also be applied for as long as they have applied for this status, but retroactively no later than seven days from the date of granting the status of resident and from 26 February. The allowance per person over 15 years per night is seven euros, for a child under 15 years the amount is half. However, the government has also set upper ceilings for accommodation allowances. For a one-room apartment it is 500 euros per month, for a two-room apartment 750 euros, for three living rooms the landlord will receive a maximum of 1000 euros and for four or more rooms 1250 euros. According to the asylum allowance scheme in the Asylum Act, this assistance will be provided to persons and entities that do not provide accommodation on the basis of a trade license.
