They should announce their candidate for the post of president of the Slovak Tennis Association only after the upcoming elections in the regions and just before the federal association, which will take place on April 9. In the past five months, they have addressed around 130 of all clubs in Slovakia, to which they have already come up with specific names. However, they have not yet been introduced to the public. The candidacy has so far been announced by former representatives Ján Krošlák and Miloslav Mečíř st. The current president of STZ, Tibor Macko, has been working continuously since 1998. Igor Moška has been the general secretary of STZ for many years. “We will, of course, have our candidate or candidates, whom we will announce soon, and according to the democratic elections, the STZ Council will elect them. It consists of 33 members, representatives from each region plus a player representative and they will decide who they want as president. People They can count on names like Kližan, Dominik Hrbatý, Vladimír Pláteník, Martin Hromec. People who have been active in tennis for many years see problems and know how to solve them, “Kližan answered when asked who their candidate for the STZ will be. Each club has said that it wants a change, there are 15 to 20 year old structures, as well as a system and statutes that are badly set up. Times are fast, modernizing and statutes are Clubs are in favor of every change, they perceive it very positively, of course, everyone is afraid of what will happen in the corner of their souls, and the little they get, the crumbs that they can still lose it. “The law on sports clearly sets the conditions for the state, which must be adhered to financially, so no club will lose it and we can only help. Whether we will help the regional centers and other points in the reform for the better,” believes Kližan. Tennis centers The first of the points is the introduction of regional tennis centers throughout Slovakia in three categories from preparations to 15-year-old players. In each of them, there should be professional trainers paid from STZ funds, which would reduce parents’ training costs. According to the initiators of the reform, this would make tennis accessible to a wide range of children and young people and increase the membership base. “I want to put tennis life back in the clubs. We have roughly calculated how much it could cost. We would like to make 25 to 30 centers in Slovakia, which can be paid for about half a million euros. We want to involve an educated coach who will be paid “Yes, it’s a bigger amount, but we already have budgets where you could save and get more money. The regional center is something that clubs really need nowadays,” said Kližan. There is no such sieve for quality, and then such coaches train children. We want to change that, so it is important to set up and unify the methodology, “said Miklušičák. In the following points, the project initiators also presented solutions to other problems that, according to them, bother Slovak tennis the most. These include changes to the current model of transfers and hosting of players, expanding the powers of regional associations and increasing their financial budget, eliminating protectionism and setting transparent criteria in the STZ or restoring the quality of adult tournaments in the country. The reform envisages the introduction of prize money, the renewal of the summer and winter ISCs, a change in the extra league model to make it interesting for the public and an increase in the annual number of ITF Futures tournaments in Slovakia. Let’s give younger a chance Such changes will require a lot of money, but the initiators of the reform are convinced that they can find them. “I think there’s a lot of money getting into the STZ, we just need to reset their flows a little bit. We don’t see exactly where the money is going from outside, but we have some idea. But there are definitely some two or three projects that we know that there you could save money and move it directly to those regional centers and the expansion of youth, “said Miklušičák. They want to attract additional financial resources from the private sector. “Let’s give the younger a chance, we think it’s time for a change, we want to help, we have a lot of experience and we have a taste,” added Igor Zelenay.
