The world’s largest streaming platform, Netflix, has announced that it will try extra charging for accounts that are shared outside of a single household. The service explains that it has always offered the possibility of sharing one account within the household for several family members. However, he describes the confusion over how Netflix can be shared. In virtually all countries, sharing one account outside one household is a popular option – for example, between acquaintances or friends. “As a result, accounts are shared between households, which affects our ability to invest in great new televisions and movies for our subscribers,” the service said. That’s why he wants to try a new opportunity in Chile, Costa Rica and Peru over the next three weeks. He says it will bring a way to share the account outside of one household, but at an additional cost. For two people outside the household Members will be able to add profiles for two people they do not live with – each will have their own profile, recommendations and their own login name and password. The surcharge will be CLP 2,380 (€ 2.69) in Chile, $ 2.99 (€ 2.7) in Costa Rica and 7.9 PEN (€ 1.92) in Peru. It is not known whether the service will introduce such a possibility globally.
