The plane with Lavrov turned on the way back to Moscow’s Vnukovo airport over Novosibirsk, ie after 2,800 kilometers of flight. According to the daily, it is not clear what happened during the flight – whether Chinese officials refused to accept him or whether President Vladimir Putin called his minister back to Moscow. China portrayed itself as a neutral player in the Ukrainian crisis and refused to condemn Russia for invading the country, but at the same time did not actively support Russian aggression in Ukraine. According to US intelligence, to which the US media refers, Moscow has asked Beijing for financial and military assistance in recent days. Chinese officials have called it misinformation. Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping declared a major strategic partnership in Beijing last month to combat US influence.
