Algerian War: 60 years later, a look back at the Évian agreements

On March 18, 1962, France and Algeria signed ceasefire agreements which opened the way to independence. Forceps agreements that will be followed by a particularly violent transition period. The Secret Armed Organization (OAS), which refuses these agreements, will apply a scorched earth strategy which will hasten the departure of hundreds of thousands of pied-noirs.
