Russian gymnast is investigated by FIG, after the medal he came with a symbol supporting the war in Ukraine – ŠPORT.SK

The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) has announced that it has launched disciplinary proceedings against Ivan Kuliak for his behavior at the World Doha Championships. Informs BBC.

After winning bronze in the finals on the bars Ivan Kuliak affixed the letter “Z” to his chest and stood on the podium next to the winner Illiu Kovtuna from Ukraine.

The letter Z became symbolic in connection with the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It can be seen painted on the side of tanks and military vehicles and is also worn by pro-war politicians in Russia.

This weekend was the last opportunity for Russian and Belarusian gymnasts to compete after FIG sanctioned their countries as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
