Fialková in a fighter with another great performance: Eckhoff won almost a year later – Športky.sk

KONTIOLAHTI – Norwegian biathlete Tiril Eckhoff triumphed in Sunday’s 10 km race as part of the World Cup event in Kontiolahti, Finland. She was second in Saturday’s sprint, but thanks to an excellent running performance and only two mistakes on the range a day later, she won 15.9 seconds ahead of Dorothea Wierer.

The Italian started as the 17th in a row, she climbed to the podium thanks to flawless shooting. German sprint winner Denise Herrmannová finished third (+19.5). The Slovak national team member Paulína Fialková took 12th place with four shooting mistakes (+1: 30.2), Mária Remeňová had to complete three penalty circuits and finished in 53rd place (+5: 37.5). The third Slovak Ivona Fialková, who secured her participation in the fighter in 56th place in the sprint, did not stand for the start due to a slight cold. She missed the race for precautionary reasons.

Eckhoff waited for the triumph in the prestigious series for almost a year, before winning the sprint in Östersund, Sweden on March 21, 2021. Overall, she celebrated her 27th individual career victory and moved up to sixth in the women’s women’s standings when she matched Finland’s Kaise Mäkäräinen.

Herrmann was the first to hit the track with a five-second lead over Eckhoff and Sweden’s Stina Nilsson. After the first shot, Eckhoff took the lead, Herrmann and Nilsson had to run one penalty round. Norka fired flawlessly and after the second item she held a lead of about 20 seconds over the German. Frenchman Anais Chevalier-Bouchet moved to third place. Eckhoff also did very well in cross-country skiing and after the first stand she was already 43 seconds ahead of France. Although Norka hesitated on the last item for the first time when she missed two targets, but since the competitors also made mistakes, she easily achieved her first victory in the World Cup season. Her compatriot Marte Olsbuová Röiselandová, who finished in fourth place on Sunday, kept the leading position in the overall evaluation and in the ranking of the fighter.

P. Fialková started as the thirteenth in a row with a shortfall of 34 seconds to Herrmann. She made two mistakes on the first shooting range and dropped to 18th place, but with a clean second item she improved and moved to 11th position (+1: 18.4). She hesitated twice on the first stand, but corrected it with an excellent running performance and a fourth net item, finishing 2-0-2-0 in the twelfth place. She achieved her third best individual result of the season after tenth place in the fighter at the Olympic Games in Beijing and 11th place in the race with a mass start at the World Championships in Anterselve. With a 0-1-1-1 balance, Remeňová placed 53rd, six points ahead of the sprint.
