Spain qualifies for the Eurocup semifinals in an agonizing way: beat Switzerland on penalties

(CNN Spanish) – Spain knows how to suffer. They qualified for the semi-finals of the European Championship after beating Switzerland on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

Switzerland was its own enemy: it missed three penalties. Spain, which had the luxury of missing two, was more effective: 3-1 in the round of collections in favor of the Iberians.

In the match, Spain went up with an own goal from Zakaria in an action by Jordi Alba at minute 8.

Switzerland tied at 68 through a Shaqiri goal.

The tie lasted until 120 minutes.

Busquets and Rodri missed their penalties, but Olmo, Moreno and Oyarzabal scored. Switzerland only scored Gavranovic’s.

The Spanish goalkeeper Unai Simón was decisive: shortcut to Akanji and Schar.
