Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky welcomed Germany’s decision on Saturday to send weapons to Ukraine to fight the Russian invasion.
This decision is a major turning point in Berlin’s policy of banning arms supplies to conflict areas.
TASR has taken over the report from the AFP news agency.
“Germany has just announced the delivery of Stinger-class hand-held grenade launchers and ground-to-air missiles. Go ahead, Chancellor Olaf Scholz!” wrote Zelensky on Twitter.
Germany has just announced the provision of anti-tank grenade launchers and stinger missiles to Ukraine. Keep it up, Chancellor @OlafScholz! Anti-war coalition in action!

With this move, Germany has joined a series of countries that have already promised arms shipments to Ukraine to help stop Russian troops from advancing through Ukrainian territory.
