The unexpected move of Putin’s spokesman Peskov’s daughter: She rejected the war on Instagram! Her status was later deleted – Topky.sk

The Polish news portal Wyborcza.pl and BBC reporter Francis Scarr working in Moscow also drew attention to the topic. TASR has a screenshot of Peskov’s official verified instagram account, before it erased the story in question.

According to the US portal Insider, this incident is likely “deeply embarrassing for Peskov and Putin’s wider circle.” In addition to the Russian president himself, Peskov is one of the Kremlin’s most media-minded figures, strongly advocating Moscow’s decision to invade Ukraine while sharply criticizing the United States and Western allies, Insider wrote.

The Newsweek portal warned that thousands of Russian protesters had taken to the streets of Moscow and St. Petersburg to protest Putin’s decision, which resulted in hundreds being arrested.

“I think, given these protests we have seen on the streets of Moscow and in other cities across Russia – where 1,700 people have been arrested – it is very interesting that Peskov’s daughter has posted a password on the social network used by demonstrators,” reporter Nic Robertson told CNN. Jelizaveta Peskovová is 24 years old and has more than 180,000 users on Instagram.

The Kremlin spokesman’s daughter came to the attention of the Western media in 2019 when she became aware that she worked as an intern for Aymeric Chauprade, Deputy Subcommittee on Security and Defense (SEDE) in the European Parliament (EP). Among other things, the French MEP supported the Russian annexation of Crimea and, according to the British daily The Guardian, was widely considered a nationalist politician and ally of the British Eurosceptic Nigel Farage. Chauprade, who was also a member of the parliamentary committee on foreign affairs, stressed that Peskova, as a law student at the time in France, did not have access to secret materials.

French Socialist MEP Christine Revault d’Allonnes-Bonnefoy said at the time that she was “scared”. Chauprade was observers at a Moscow-organized referendum on Crimea’s accession to the Russian Federation. “I never hid that I considered Crimea to be a historical part of Russia,” said the French MEP at the time.

Peskova began working as an intern at the EP in November 2018 and ended her tenure at the European Institutions at the end of April 2019, when Chauprade’s term ended. She is currently the Vice President of the Foundation for the Development of Russian-French Historical Initiatives.
