Beijing has launched a national propaganda campaign to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Chinese Communist Party. Historic sites have been renovated, movie theaters are forced to show patriotic films, and questions about party history have been added to college entrance exams. For Beijing, it is also a question of censoring any dissenting voice: a toll-free number has been set up to denounce those who dare to criticize the party’s past.
