She added that after a phone call with her cross-border colleague, the mayor of Veľké Berezné, where they expect the influx of migrants from the eastern part of Ukraine, several mayors of border municipalities in the district agreed to provide material assistance to their neighbors.

The willingness to provide possible assistance was also shown by the border municipalities in the Sobrance district. “Our people fled towards the border when there was a war, now that they fled here, we also have to accept them, because it is humanity. Of course, we would help those people,” Pinkovce mayor Ján Kočiš told TASR. that he himself is ready, if necessary, to accommodate several refugees in his own household.
