President Čaputová after the meeting of the Security Council: Victims of the war, there will be victims of Vladimir Putin – NEW TIME

With allies in NATO and the European Union, the Slovak Republic is ready to provide assistance to end the conflict in Ukraine and to protect human lives.

This was announced by President Zuzana Čaputová after the meeting of the Security Council of the Slovak Republic. According to her, the security of Slovakia is not at risk at the moment.

Russia’s armed forces are hitting targets throughout our neighbor’s territory. The hopes of those who thought that the Kremlin would be satisfied with the occupation of parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions became an illusion. President Zuzana Čaputová said this after today’s extraordinary meeting of the Security Council of the Slovak Republic.

“President Putin has decided to pursue his unacceptable territorial and political ambitions through direct military aggression. He attacked the weaker, whose only fault is that he wanted to live peacefully according to his ideas than other sovereign nations. ” said the head of state, saying that this action could not be justified.

The President stated that all the sacrifices that the war in Ukraine will bring will be the victims of President Putin and will bear full responsibility in the face of the world community. “Even the spreaders of this misinformation cannot believe that Russia was provoked by the Ukrainian army in a military attack,” she added.

According to Čaputová, Ukraine now has a full right to defend itself. “Defending one’s right to exist as a state and deciding freely one’s destiny. We ourselves would not have done otherwise in such a situation. The Slovak Republic strongly condemns the Russian aggression and stands by the suffering Ukrainian people, “she said. She added that, together with allies in NATO and the European Union, she was willing to provide assistance to Ukraine in ending the conflict and protecting human lives.

“Making peace is an absolute priority. The situation we are experiencing today is a cause for vigilance, because the security situation in Europe has changed dramatically since tonight, “the president said. But she also called for peace. According to her, Slovak security and territorial integrity are not in direct danger. “Our freedom and sovereignty is protected by our allies,” she concluded.

The Russian Federation attacked Ukraine in several places this morning. It has carried out direct attacks to destroy critical infrastructure. Shelling and explosions are reported from various parts of the country, and heavy ground equipment has already entered the area. Kiev reports explosions and rocket attacks on Ukrainian aircraft at the airport outside Kiev.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Ivan Korčok will request a consultation pursuant to Article 4 at an extraordinary NATO meeting today. The European Union is also announcing the preparation of further sanctions against Russia.
