China, 100 new ICBM silos

China has begun construction of what independent experts call more than 100 new ICBM silos in a desert area near the northwestern city of Yumen. This was announced by experts from the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies in Monterey who analyzed satellite images that would constitute a signal of an expansion of Beijing’s nuclear capabilities. In fact, the 119 almost identical constructions recall those already existing for the launch of the Chinese ballistic missile arsenal. The acquisition of more than 100 new missile silos would represent a huge advance for China which is currently believed to possess between 250 and 350 nuclear weapons. However, the exact number of missiles that should be contained in these silos is not known. And it could even be much less, since China has already used fake missile silos in the past.
