The epidemiological situation in Slovakia is improving, the number of daily positive cases tested at COVID-19 is declining across the entire territory of the Slovak Republic. The number of emergency medical service trips also decreased. The number of hospitalized patients is increasing slightly. The first big release will start on Saturday.

The situation in Slovakia continues to improve. On average, there are 17,400 positive cases per day. More than 2,700 patients are currently hospitalized. Less than a hundred people need artificial lung ventilation. “It’s a quarter of the peak that was during the previous two waves,” specified the head of the Institute of Medical Analyzes Matej Mišík. He added that this is also an indicator of the intensity of treatment, which allows us to talk about the relaxation of measures.

During the omicron, more than a million people had COVID

Mišík explained that during the ascending phase of the omicron variant, COVID-19 disease was overcome or infected by just over a million people. According to him, a similar number of people can be expected to become infected during the decline phase.

According to him, a decrease in the number of positive cases can be observed throughout Slovakia. “There are a few districts where the daily incidence has increased compared to the previous week, but in 48 districts there is a decrease from week to week,” the expert approached.

The number of positive cases is falling sharply in all age groups, except for the elderly over the age of 60. “As with previous waves, we see the infection reaching the higher age groups at the end of the wave,” stated that the situation is stabilizing in this age group as well.

Compared to the previous weeks, the overall increase in ambulance trips to patients is declining. In the first three regions, their decline can already be observed.

Release phase 1 (28 February to 26 March 2022)

In the first phase of the release of measures, the so-called OTP, OP, OP + regimes with capacity restrictions will be abolished. At its meeting on Wednesday, the government approved an update of the measures with effect from 26 February, with the first phase due until 25 March.

According to the approved material from the workshop of the Ministry of Health, at low and medium risk events (for example, services, sporting events, cultural events) is set to increase the maximum capacity to 500 people or a maximum of 50 percent of capacity from 26 February. At high risk eventsas weddings or carriages, the capacity will be a maximum of 50 people, in both cases the basis will apply.

Regardless of vaccination and testing the public will also have access to fitness, wellness, aqua park or spa facilities, a capacity limit of 50 people or the rule of one person per 15 square meters of covered area will apply.

BASIC mode

– will also apply to sports competitions and training with a capacity limit of up to 100 athletes
– will also apply to museums, galleries, exhibition halls or accommodation facilities. The use of common areas will be governed by the rules of the mass event

Visits to hospitals or social services facilities will be on OTP or basis, at the discretion of the founder or director.

A respirator remains mandatory indoors and outdoors at mass events, as well as outdoors at a distance of up to two meters from other people.

Ministry of Health still recommends the use of a home office to the maximum extent possible.

Only a COVID positive student will go into isolation: In the case of schools, domestic quarantine is not applied when in contact with a positive classmate. Only a positive student will go into individual isolation, others will continue to learn. Instead of quarantine, wearing a respirator / drape will be mandatory for ten days from the last contact with a positive person in the class, while maintaining the face-to-face training and isolating the positive person (isolation remains). The obligation to wear drapes in the classrooms will also be abolished, and wearing in common areas will continue to apply.

Phase 2 of the release (from March 26, 2022) … will it ring the veils?

The second phase of release will begin on March 26, when capacity restrictions are lifted and the obligation to wear a respirator or drape is adjusted. In the case of respirator drapes, there may be a switch to voluntary respirator wear in some areas.

He added that it will be specified within a month. The operating hours restriction will also be lifted. “From Saturday, the release will take place as announced. The second release is the possibility that if the situation dramatizes, they could be tightened, but this is not expected.” stated.

The material adds that a possible change in the release schedule or adjustment of the measures themselves may be justified in the event of a change in the epidemic situation in Slovakia in the form of a significant increase in hospitalizations (especially more clinically difficult) or a new risk caused by a possible new risk variant SARS-CoV-2 in other European countries.
