LONDON – Chelsea London footballers beat the Champions League round of 2021/2022 at home in the opening match of OSC Lille 2-0. Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic scored the trophy defender’s goals. In Tuesday’s second match, Juventus Turin drew 1: 1 on Villarreal. Retaliation in Lille and Turin is scheduled for March 16.
Chelsea started sharply against Lille. In the 4th minute after the center of Cesar Azpilicuet Havertz sent the ball over the goal, but four minutes later the German national team managed to open the score, after a corner kick by Hakim Ziyech he did not give a chance to the goalkeeper Leo Jardim – 1: 0. The home side put themselves ahead 1 – 0 after 18 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from N’Golo Kante, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing. The reigning French champion opened the game more after the break and was bolder in the forward direction, but the Londoners’ attacks were more dangerous. In the 54th minute, Alons’ hard call was stopped by Zeki Celik, five minutes later he was attracted again by an individual Havertz action, but his attempt ended above the crossbar. The away team improved the scoreline to 2 – 0, as Pulisic struck home, set up well by a play on the left 63 minutes into the match. “The Blues” no longer gave the opponent a chance to dramatize the match and they checked the end without any problems. They have already stretched the winning streak in all competitions for six matches.
Juventus’ express start was not enough to win
Juventus had an express start on Villarreal soil. After a few seconds, Dušan Vlahovič ran onto Danila’s pass, surrounded the two opponents with a ball on his chest and from a difficult position aimed exactly at the far post into the counter-movement of the goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli – 0: 1. The Spanish team sought an immediate response, with Giovani Lo Celso finishing right next to Alfons Pedraz. In the 17th minute, Arnaut Danjuma’s skilful foul after Samuel Chukwuez’s penetration did not take over. The “Yellow Submarine” continued to look for ways to break through the opponent’s defense, but the carefully acting “Juve” defenders did not offer her many options.

The record Italian champion could have struck a second goal right after the change of sides, but Alvar Morat’s shot from the first one missed the left post. Villarreal tried to work his way through an opponent. After an hour of play, Dani Parej’s big moments came. In the 61st minute, the home midfielder was still aiming high above the visitors’ goal from a great distance, but five minutes later he rippled the net, when after a precisely timed pass, Etienne Capoue equalized for the defense with a shot from the first. The end of the duel was in a fighting spirit, the field started to sparkle, but this development was recorded by the guests. With 85 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 1 – 0 lead as Vlahovič flipped the ball in after a cross from the right.
