It’s hard to imagine Jocelyn Gourvennec’s players wearing ropes and hiking boots when boarding the plane that was taking them to London. However, these tools would have been very useful to Lille who were attacking a mountain, Tuesday, February 22 in the round of 16 of the Champions League: the reigning European and world champion, Chelsea.

And the people of Lille did not create the feat. In a match without too many chances, Jocelyn Gourvennec’s players logically lost 2-0. Kai Havertz on a corner (1-0, 8th) then Christian Pulisic (2-0, 63rd) shook the nets of Leo Jardim. A mattress of two goals in advance which allows Chelsea to calmly consider the return match. Lille will, for its part, believe in the feat.
