The United States. Commerce. Zasa. Inappropriate jokes aside. But you need to orient yourself. The world is confused.

Ford Ranger Raptor takes Europe by storm. Hide the Lady, get your loans ready, this is offroad with the engine. The next-generation Ranger Raptor dropped the diesel biturbo to the past into the price list as an alternative and took his proud V6 with a volume of 3.0 liters to the hoax-confused, uncertainly bombed Europe. They burn gas. A lot. Should they ban him? Mali. Take it until I forbid it. Or at least enjoy it on facts, photos and great video like we do.

The Ford Ranger Raptor is the first in its next-generation mid-size model hood. The Ranger is made for the whole world and Europe is also the world. So he gets this top generation, even first. There is not much time, you need to hurry. The countdown begins, with the first pieces coming in the last quarter of this year (2022).

The biggest news is the introduction of the all-new 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 dual-turbocharged petrol engine, which has been tuned by Ford Performance to deliver 288 hp and 491 Nm of torque.

The new 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 dual-turbocharged engine boasts a compacted graphite iron cylinder block that is approximately 75 percent stronger and up to 75 percent stiffer than the iron used in conventional castings. The Ford Performance division provided an immediate engine response to the accelerator pedal inputs. The anti-delay racing system, similar to the first time it appeared in the Ford GT and Focus ST road vehicles, in turn allows for rapid delivery of boost pressure on request.

The new anti-delay system (available in Baja mode) keeps the turbochargers running for three seconds after the driver has taken his foot off the accelerator pedal, allowing acceleration to resume more quickly when exiting a corner or when shifting the accelerator pedal again. In addition, the engine is programmed with an individual boost pressure profile for each stage of the advanced 10-speed automatic transmission to achieve optimized performance.

With the help of electronics and a modified exhaust pipe, the new drive unit can handle both various situations on the road and the attention of the surrounding audience.

The driver can select his favorite engine sound by pressing a button on the steering wheel or by selecting a driving mode that uses one of the following settings:

  • Quiet (quiet) – prefers silence to performance and sound if you do not want to disturb your neighbors early in the morning
  • Normal – intended for everyday use; this profile offers an exhaust sound with an impressive character while not being too loud to use on the street. This profile is used by default in Normal, Slipper, Mud / Ruts and Rock Crawl modes.
  • Sport (sports) – offers louder and more dynamic sound
  • “Baja” (for field adventures) – the most pronounced exhaust profile in terms of volume and tone; in “Baja” mode, the exhaust behaves rather than the pass-through system. Intended for field use only.

The current 2.0-liter dual-turbocharged diesel engine will also be available for the next-generation Ranger Raptor from 2023, with more information available shortly before launch.

The Ranger Raptor has a redesigned chassis compared to the classic Ranger. A range of Raptor-specific mounts and reinforcements for elements such as the rear pillar, cargo box or spare wheel, as well as unique bumper frames, a shock absorber tower and a rear shock absorber bracket.

Ford engineers have completely redesigned the suspension. The all-new, strong yet lightweight aluminum upper and lower wishbones, long-stroke front and rear suspension and modified rear Watt guide are designed to provide better control over rough terrain at high speeds.

FOX internal bypass dampersThe new-generation 2.5-inch Live Valves feature innovative steering technology that provides position-sensitive damping. These are the most sophisticated shock absorbers ever fitted to the Ranger Raptor. They are filled with Teflon-added oil, which reduces friction by approximately 50% compared to the shock absorbers in the previous model.

While the hardware is FOX, tuning and development was handled by Ford Performance using a combination of computer engineering and real-time testing. Everything from the adjustment of the suspension to the adjustment of the ground clearance, the tuning of the valves and the improvement of the driving zones has been done in order to create an optimal balance between comfort, control, stability and traction on the road and in the field.

The Live Valve internal bypass system is linked to the Ranger Raptor’s sophisticated optional driving modes and is designed to provide greater road comfort and better off-road driving quality at both high and low speeds.

In addition to interacting with driving modes, the system works in the background and prepares the new Ranger Raptor for different conditions. The different zones of the bypass system provide exactly the support needed for the stroke when depressing the shock absorbers, and work in reverse when the shock absorbers bounce back to full height..

A race-proven system is used to protect against a sharp drop in the shock absorbers FOX Bottom-Out Control, which provides maximum damping force in the last 25 percent of the stroke. Similarly, it can stiffen the rear shock absorbers to prevent the rear of the vehicle from tilting when starting off sharply, which improves stability. Thanks to the shock absorbers, which provide the right amount of damping force in every position, the Ranger Raptor remains firmly seated both on the road and on the track.

The ability to overcome difficult terrain is further enhanced by high-quality chassis protection. The front base plate is almost twice the size of the new generation Ranger standard unit and is made of 2.3 mm thick high-strength steel. This plate, in combination with the lower engine shield and transfer case shield, is designed to protect the most important components such as the radiator, steering system, front cross member, engine bay and front differential.

Double towing hooks front and rear provide flexible liberation options in the field. The construction facilitates access to one of the towing hooks when the other is buried, and at the same time allows the use of balance straps when releasing from deep sand or thick mud.

For the first time, the Ranger Raptor is equipped with an all-wheel drive system with an electronically controlled optional two-speed transfer case in combination with a front and rear lockable differential.

Each optional driving mode adjusts a number of elements, from the engine and transmission to the anti-lock braking system (ABS) sensitivity and calibration, traction and stability control, exhaust valve control, throttle control and throttle response. In addition, the indicators, vehicle information and color themes on the instrument cluster and the center touchscreen change according to the selected driving mode. The highlight of all this is the Baja regime.

LED matrix headlights with LED daytime running lights are a complete novelty for the Ranger. They include predictive cornering lights, glare-free high beam technology (Matrix) and automatic dynamic leveling, which ensure better visibility for Ranger Raptor drivers as well as other road users.

The extended fenders cover the 17-inch alloy wheels fitted with high-performance off-road tires exclusive to the Raptor. Functional vents, aerodynamic elements and durable, sticky cast aluminum side steps enhance the vehicle’s appearance and functionality. There are LED rear lights at the rear, the rear bumper is in gray Precision Gray and has an integrated tread and a towing device that is tucked high to avoid endangering the rear approach angle.

The cabin is equipped with brand new sports seats in the front and rear, which are said to be inspired by fighters. The seats increase comfort and provide better support when cornering fast.

The orange accents in the Code Orange shade on the instrument panel, trim and seats are reflected in the Ranger Raptor’s interior lighting, which floods the vehicle’s interior with a pleasant amber glow. The sporty character of the interior is completed by an exclusive leather heated sports steering wheel with raised thumbs, a sign in the middle and gear levers made of cast magnesium.

Passengers will also enjoy the latest digital technologies. The state-of-the-art cab features a 12.4-inch fully digital combined display and a 12-inch center touch screen with a new generation of SYNC 4A connectivity and entertainment system®4 from Ford, which provides wireless compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto ™ at no additional charge.5 The Bang & Olufsen audio system will provide the soundtrack for your next adventure® with a system of 10 speakers6.
