Femicide in Paris: the policeman suspected of the murder went to the Var – archyde

More than three weeks later the death of Amanda Glain, in Paris (19th century), his companion and alleged murderer, Arnaud Bonnefoy, was taken into custody by the Var gendarmes. According to our information, he telephoned the gendarmerie on Tuesday at 9.45 a.m. to report his presence at his father’s home in Montméyan and expressed his desire to surrender. He was arrested a few minutes later. Investigators from the second district of the Paris judicial police will now travel to the South to manage the hearings. Arnaud Bonnefoy will have to explain the circumstances of the tragedy but also his actions during his run.

It was on the night of Saturday January 29, in Paris (19th century), around 8:55 p.m., the body of this 28-year-old blonde woman was discovered in the housing of the peacekeeper. The 29-year-old man, assigned to the Blanc-Mesnil police station (Seine-Saint-Denis), had sent an SMS to his line manager in the middle of the day to warn that he would not come to work. A worrying situation, because the policeman is known to have suicidal tendencies.

Clutter and liquor bottles

A patrol then goes to his home, rue David-d’Angers, a small artery located a hundred meters from the Danube metro. The official occupied accommodation in this residence of the administration which is inhabited only by passing police officers. The police are knocking on the door of the apartment.

When there was no response, the guard opened the door for them. Arnaud is not there. In the bathroom, the police find the body of a woman, lying with her head in the shower tray. They notice that the apartment is a mess and get their hands on bottles of alcohol. The autopsy will reveal that the victim was probably strangled the night before or on Friday morning.

His cell phone cut off in the Crimean street

The investigators discover that the suspect fled, with his service weapon, at the wheel of his old white Peugeot 208, whose wing holds with adhesive. His cell phone is tracked, but it was cut off on Friday morning, rue de Crimée. In the neighborhood, residents who knew him describe a somewhat withdrawn man.

Arnaud Bonnefoy joined the police in 2012. He had already been taken into police custody in October 2019 for violence against his partner at the time before being sentenced to an alternative sentence to prosecution. The young man had taken an awareness course on domestic violence. Administratively, he had been sanctioned with a simple warning.

He was also the subject of “social follow-up”, provided by psychologists, social workers and prevention doctors. In addition, on June 17, the suspect “had requested the intervention of the police for a dispute with his partner, who would have been violent with him. He had a swollen face.” Amanda would have taken the opportunity to denounce the regular violence of which she was the victim. But no complaint, on either side, had been filed.

Like many young working people, Amanda had difficulty finding a stable first job and continued to live in her parents’ home in Clayes-sous-Bois. The young woman grew up in the Yvelines. She had finished a course in a Parisian art school and was destined for the profession of graphic designer. “She was an artist, summarizes her brother, Charlie, met at the entrance of their house. She had a lot of talent. My sister was a girl passionate about everything. An incredible young woman. Everyone needs to know that. »

Amanda Glain was 28 when she was killed. DR

She hosted a website that she had built entirely on her own. She gave her opinion on all subjects: cooking, cinema, Parisian life and even on love… One of her posts on toxic relationships is sadly enlightening, and perhaps prescient. “In my personal experience, getting into a toxic relationship can happen very quickly and unknowingly,” writes Amanda. I have been with a toxic person for a long time, both for me, for his loved ones and for himself. Sometimes it bordered on insanity. »

A withdrawal from the distributor and a call for witnesses

Given his psychological history, the police expected to discover the body of Arnaud Bonnefoy. “There is even a medium policeman who contacted the investigators to tell them that the suspect had hanged himself in a forest in Méru, in the Oise”, notes a source close to the file.

But, on February 9, the situation changes, because proof of life comes to relaunch the investigations. The peacekeeper suspected of murder withdrew 1,500 euros in a distributor in Breteuil (Oise). The next day, the police headquarters launched a first call for witnesses in the press showing his car and his face. Initiative pays off.

On February 11, a local resident discovered his Peugeot 208 and his service weapon in the parking lot of the Burger King in Amiens (Somme). The police hide nearby and wait for several hours. In vain, Arnaud Bonnefoy does not show up. February 18, her father posts a video in which he asks her to surrender. “Do it for Amanda, for her family, they need to know. I am your father and you will always be my son. But now it’s time to stop everything, ”assures this man with a southern accent.

A call that will have paid off since his son has heard the voice of reason. He would have telephoned the gendarmerie to announce his arrival after having visited his father. During his hearings, which may last forty-eight hours, the policeman will have to explain the circumstances of Amanda’s death. Did they fight again? Did she want to leave him? He will then be brought before the Parisian judge for an indictment.
